Three shearers and two shed-hands have donated an entire day’s earnings, totalling more than $1,600 to help raise awareness of bowel cancer.

The unique charity event was in memory of their former employer and friend, Helen McGorman, who sadly passed way from bowel cancer earlier this year. The group of mates knew the McGorman family was passionate about supporting the Foundation, and came up with the idea at Helen’s funeral.

Helen’s youngest son, Paul McGorman, said, “Our family are extremely humbled and proud of the selfless generosity of these guys.

“They knew how Mum viewed and we continue to view, the vital role of charities like The Jodi Lee Foundation in creating awareness for bowel cancer.”

“The fact that 90% of cases can be successfully treated if caught early is a great reason for everybody to continue to spread the word about early detection through bowel screening. Mum would have been so proud of the boys.”

The event took place in Sanderston, in South Australia’s Mid Murray region.

Money raised by these generous lads will be used to support our bowel cancer prevention programs and initiatives.
