Jodi Lee Foundation Founder and Chair, Nick Lee, was named as a recipient of The Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours earlier this year.
He was officially awarded this Honour a few weeks ago at a ceremony at Government House by the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC.
Nick received this recognition for his service to the community through the not-for-profit sector and commitment to raising awareness for the prevention and early detection of bowel cancer.
“Being awarded this medal came as a complete surprise. I feel like this is recognition of so much hard work by so many.
More importantly, it is the recognition of the impact we have had on the lives of Australians over the last 12 years. We have achieved a lot but there is so much more to do. The fact that bowel cancer is the leading cancer killer in 25 to 34 year-old Australians is unacceptable. Too many people like Jodi are being impacted by this preventable disease. We must change these statistics – there are too many lives at stake. We will continue to fight hard to make this happen.”
