We’re excited to announce Eugene Arocca as an official Jodi Lee Foundation ambassador.
Eugene is the CEO of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport and recently beat bowel cancer.
After turning 50, he received a screening test through the Government’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, but didn’t use it.
“It was a four-year period from the time I should have been screened to when I had the colonoscopy … and I am kicking myself for waiting that long,” Eugene said.
Fortunately, he is now cancer free but he admits not screening nearly cost him his life.
Eugene has become a passionate advocate for bowel cancer prevention and is keen to use his story to encourage others to be proactive about their health and screen for regularly for bowel cancer.
“Unlike prostate cancer, bowel cancer is not as prevalent in the public domain. I don’t know why it doesn’t get the publicity that other cancers do, or why people don’t get screened when they should.”
He is now helping us raise awareness of bowel cancer and taking the simple at home test. It’s great to have his support!
